Question : Is it true a Will can be altered after my death ? Mr. E. Williams, Cardiff.
Answer : Yes a Will can be altered within 2 years of death provided all beneficiaries agree. It is important however that you have made a Will in the first place. Otherwise the intestacy rules will apply.
Question : Can putting my money in an investment bond protect me against long term care charges? Mrs. J. Holmes, Bury.
Answer : It can because an investment bond is treated by a local authority as a life assurance contract rather than savings. However, making such an investment needs to be done well before care is required, because otherwise it could be deemed that you have deprived yourself of the asset. It could also mean that you cannot afford the care you would really like.
